1. Casio AWG-M100-1AER
The G-Shock line is huge, and the AWG series is certainly not the most popular. Yet they are great, feature-packed smaller G-Shocks.
This one has a very interesting dial with 3 independent LCD subdials at 3, 6 and 9.
And if you’re worried: you can move the hands if they’re in the way and have a hard time reading the subdials – genius.
46 mm might seem big for a watch, but do remember that the case is protruding at 3 and 9. The watch wears great on my 6 inch wrist.
As with all G-Shocks, this stunner comes with a shock-resistant system up to 10G and 200 m of water resistance.
Not to mention the usual suspects like:
- chronograph
- timer
- alarm
- world time
- perpetual calendar
But this one goes even further: it’s solar-powered and it’s radio-controlled. No need to change the battery or set the time, ever.
Add a subtle yet interesting comb pattern on the dial and a splash of color on the hour hand, and you have a watch that will serve you for years!

You probably know Tissot for their everyday watches – they offer great value for money, with reliable movements and simple, beautiful designs.
But Tissot also makes the T-Touch series: ana digi watches packed with features at a reasonable price.
And this one certainly doesn’t disappoint – it features:
- an altimeter
- a barometer
- a compass
- a thermometer
and the usual chronograph, alarm and perpetual calendar. Add 100 m of water resistance and a lightweight titanium case, and you’re ready for any situation.
The trapezoidal hour markers are touch-sensitive – this is how you choose the function you want to operate. Epic.
And if you have an impression of déjà vu, it’s because it has a Breitling Aerospace vibe – only at a tenth of the cost!

3. Casio AQ-230GA-9D
Did anyone say vintage?
Casio has a wide range of small, electronic vintage watches. But this one is a different story, with its simple analog dial and rectangular LED display.
Yet it keeps the most important features, like chronograph, world time, alarm and perpetual calendar.
The case almost has a tonneau shape and the dial has a champagne glow in certain lights – which gives this watch an almost luxurious look.
Now, if you don’t like this gold model, it’s available
Of course, with 30m of water resistance, it’s not suited for swimming. And the bracelet is the typical thin resin bracelet – not the best in town.
But besides that, it’s a small watch you can wear with pretty much anything. It will look good at the bar or in a meeting room.
And not only is it versatile, but it’s also affordable!

4. Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-1000-1A3
Let’s get serious: this Casio G-Shock Mudmaster has everything you need, and then some. And it’s super rugged, too.
Before we go on, please note that this watch is pretty big at 56 mm, so it won’t suit smaller wrists.
But what you get is a crazy-long list of features:
- shock-resistant (obviously)
- mud-resistant – wear these during any expedition, it will be fine
- solar-powered – no need to change the battery, ever
- radio-controlled – no need to set the time if you’re near one of the 6 broadcast towers in Japan (x2), North America, UK, Germany and China
- it’s an ABC watch, so with an altimeter, barometer and compass
- a thermometer
- and the usual chronograph, timer, alarms, perpetual calendar and world time functions
Now the real star of the show is the dial: it’s super legible despite all the things going on, and it has a nice field watch look.
Not only is this Mudmaster a rugged a watch, but its a survival tool, too.
And it probably won’t work with a suit… but do you really care?

5. Seiko SNJ027
Seiko is famous for its dive watches: from affordable to luxury, from 200m to 1000 m of water resistance – they have them all.
But the Seiko SNJ027 is kind of an oddball, being the only one with a digital display.
Now, this Seiko is nicknamed the “Arnie” as a throwback to the original Arnold Schwarzenegger was wearing the 80’s (in movies lie Commando or The Predator).
At the time, many considered it as the world’s first hybrid diver watch – and it’s still one of the few ones today.
The Arnie adds a lot of useful features to a regular dive watch, like chronograph function, alarm, perpetual calendar and dual time
Att the typical red and blue PADI look, and you have a watch that will withstand every use and abuse no problem.

6. Casio G-Steel GST-W310-1AJF
Wow, this looks so cool!
This was my first reaction the first time I ever saw the Casio G-Steel GST-W310. And it’s hard to tell how intricate yet legible the dial is in real life.
The G-Steel series incorporates steel as part of the build, but they’re G-Shocks at the core.
So you get everything that makes G-Shocks so rugged: 10G shock-resistance and 200 m of water resistance.
But don’t get fooled by the 3 small LED subdials, because this G-Steel hs the full package:
- timer
- chronograph
- alarm
- perpetual calendar
- word time
And it doesn’t stop there.
Behind the beautiful sunburst dial, you have the solar cells charging the battery when the watch is exposed to the light. And it’s radio-controlled, so no need to set the time.
It’s rugged yet classy, legible yet feature-packed. It’s the perfect watch if you don’t like to choose.
And if you’re looking for a darker look, this exact model is also available with a black bezel.

7. Citizen Navihawk JY8035-04E
Along with Casio, Citizen has got to be the brand that gives you the most bang for your buck.
And this Citizen Navihawk certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Now it’s pretty big at 48 mm, but the soft rubber band makes it comfortable to wear.
It has everything you expect from an ana digi watch, like a chronograph, a timer, a perpetual calendar, a world time function and 2 alarms.
But it goes way beyond that:
- it’s solar-powered, so you won’t ever need to change the battery
- it’s radio-controlled, so as long as your near one of the atomic clock broadcast towers, it will be always on time
- it has 200 m of water resistance, making it perfect for diving (and any other situation)
- and it has a sliding-rules, perfect to make calculations and convert units (like currencies, liquids or speeds) on the go
And while the dial is super busy, Citizen managed to make it still useable and legible.
Not to mention this pilot-style dial with orange accents looks incredible!

8. Casio Pro Trek PRW-6600Y-2JF
Some Casio Pro Trek watches feature an analog display, but none come close to this one when it comes to legibility and looks.
The big Arabic numerals make reading the time a breeze. And the skeletonized sword hands give it a beautiful pilot watch vibe.
But this watch is not all looks, far from it! It has the usual chronograph, timer, perpetual calendar and word time function.
But it’s a proper ABC watch with:
- an altimeter
- a barometer
- a compass
- and a thermometer
making it the perfect watch for any expedition – that’s what Pro Trek watches are all about.
Now, I would have loved this watch to have more than 100 m of water resistance. But let’s be honest: it’s more than enough for everyday wear, hiking and even swimming.
I know I love mine!

9. Breitling Aerospace Evo E7936310
If you’re looking for a luxurious ana digi watch, the Breitling Aerospace Evo is probably the best pick – if not the only one.
This pilot watch has everything you expect, like a chronograph, timer, calendar, world time function and alarm.
But it packs even more punch with:
- A SuperQuartz movement that is thermocompensated, making it one of the most accurate quartz movement on the market
- A minute repeater, that tells you the time with sound – a feature you can only find on super high-end luxurious mechanical watches
- A full titanium build, making it super lightweight on the wrist, and certainly lighter than a typical steel watch.
This Aerospace is definitely the way to go for any luxury sports watch enthusiast: it’s feature-packed, accurate, lightweight and it looks the absolute business.
And if this deep blue dial blue is not your thing, there are a lot of other options, with a black or gray dial, on a rubber or leather strap, or even with a gunmetal case.
Awesome.
