What Is Hublot?
A fusion of materials is what Hublot is all about. The brand is continually forging new ways to make avant-garde wristwatches that truly stand out. If you have a taste for the big, the bold, and the beautiful, you’ve probably heard of Hublot watches.
If you haven’t, you must have been hiding under a rock. The brand is a real contender in the realm of luxury wristwatches. Designs like the Big Bang and Classic Fusion are popular amongst avid watch enthusiasts, particularly fans of modern designs.
Recently, Hublot attended the LVMH Watch Week 2024 event and unveiled its latest offerings. They celebrate color to the max.
There are rainbow offerings in the Spirit of Big Bang design, along with a vibrant green Big Bang SAXEM watch.
On top of this, Hublot treats its fans to a serene blue and radiant yellow Classic Fusion Orlinski watch. These arrived along with a full purple Big Bang Integrated Tourbillon.
Before we delve into these in more detail, we need a little explanation of the brand itself.
The Story of Hublot
The story of Hublot began in 1980 with an Italian designer named Carlo Crocco. The brand’s first release was a yellow-gold case with a black rubber band.
Little did Crocco know just how successful that black rubber bracelet would be. It would go on to shape the success of the brand and become a company trademark.
No one had ever considered combining a luxurious gold case with a casual, supple, practical rubber strap before. The bracelet was a complete novelty amongst collectors and proved to be a revolutionary move for Hublot.
To propel Hublot forward, Jean-Claude Biver, a new CEO, hopped on board. He envisaged bringing the brand’s history to the forefront of the company, fusing materials in a unique way. That very concept underpins the modern Hublot watches we see before us today.
Hublot’s Advances in Materials and Movements
When browsing through the new Hublot LVMH releases, you’ll note the brand’s use of unusual materials. These cutting-edge designs are the result of years and years of research and experimentation.
The advanced methods used to create these materials aren’t seen anywhere else in the industry. It’s what makes Hublot stand out from the crowd.
Despite these advances in material research, Hublot watches can be pretty reasonably priced.
Now based in the city of Nyon in Switzerland, Hublot watches come in various shapes and forms. As well as combining precious materials like gold and platinum, high-tech alloys are also available.
Hublot developed Magic Gold, a proprietary material forged from pure gold and boron carbide, along with ceramic. Another example is a metal alloy containing magnesium named Hublonium.
Hublot also produces many of its components in-house, including the Hublot Unico movement. The first of the brand’s chronograph movements featured in the Big Bang and King Power collections.
Then came a series of other in-house movements for the Hublot Ferrari, not to mention incredibly slim Classico calibers.
Hublot — The Face of Sport
Hublot watches have a huge, high-profile fan base. Jay-Z, Lionel Richie, and Prince Albert of
Monaco are all keen collectors. Hublot also has a presence on the pitch and was the first to involve itself with football.
Today, the brand is the official watch of FIFA and has collaborated with Juventus and Bayern Munich.
The brand also fronts the face of motorsport racing and luxury cars. Hublot celebrates its relationship with Formula 1 through watches like the Formula 1 King Power Ceramic.
New 2024 Hublot Watch Releases
Now it’s time to take a look at the new 2024 Hublot watch releases in detail. This year, the brand has extended its Big Bang, Classic Fusion, and Time Only designs.
It has also released a new Manufacture Piece and an emerald green SAXEM watch.
Below are details about the most exciting Hublot releases of LVMH Watch Week 2024.
The Hublot MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy
For the tenth edition of the MP watch, Hublot announces the eagerly anticipated MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy watch. Crafted from titanium, its arresting design is technical, lightweight, and mechanically complex.
Hublot intends for both the mechanical and aesthetical elements of the design to be inseparable.
Without a dial, hands, or oscillating weight, this remarkable timepiece houses a sophisticated movement within its sleek design.
A circular power reserve indicator and roller display accompany a tourbillon’s automatic movement, wound by two linear weights. This disruptive design lacks nothing in the way of style, either.
A combination of smooth, rounded finishes and sharp angular elements mixes elegance with modernity in perfect measure.
Many have argued that Hublot doesn’t do enough with its movements. Sure, the entry-level Big Bangs and Classic Fusion watches may play things a little safe. But the MP has always been Hublot’s platform to showcase its mechanical mastery.
The MP is a serious contender in mechanical movements. The cylindrical rotating display to show the hours and minutes is a unique concept. So are the vertically oscillating weights at either side.
Hublot is offering something different from what most manufacturers are using when creating automatic weights.
The new Hublot MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy is a great talking point, for sure. Plus, it’s sure to bring something aesthetically different to any luxury watch collection.
The Hublot Classic Fusion Tourbillon Orlinski
The Hublot Classic Fusion Tourbillon Orlinski watches bring a bright pop of spring color to the wrist. They both feature a skeletonized tourbillon movement through the dial and deliver a 5-day power reserve.
Inspired by Orlinski’s artistic sculptures, these new Hublot watch releases certainly won’t go unnoticed.
The brand’s collaboration with Richard Orlinski, a best-selling French artist, reveals a sunny yellow model. Its case, strap, and hand all convey the same bright yellow hue. Behind the yellow hands and hour markers is the HUB6021 with skeletonized bridges.
The sky blue version is just as attention-demanding. It features a crown and 6 H-shaped bezel screws executed in a black PVD coating to match the skeletonized bridges.
Lastly, between the 8 and 9 o’clock locations, the power reserve feature indicates its 5-day capacity. Its sapphire crystal glass structure, front and back, captures the light, tastefully showcasing the movement.
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Green SAXEM
This is the second color to enter the SAXEM design. The name derives from a material similar in hardness and scratch resistance to sapphire crystal glass. SAXEM can compete with the finest emeralds and bears a greater brilliance than sapphire.
Following on from the Yellow Neon SAXEM watch, the new emerald green version is a stunning continuation.
The MP-11 model is ultra-contemporary and technical, featuring a fully transparent case enabling you to observe the movement inside. SAXEM is sapphire, aluminum, and oxide mixed with rare Earth materials.
Regardless of the angle by which you admire this new Hublot watch release, its color intensity is unchanged. Meanwhile, the Big Bang’s bezel with six black titanium H-shaped screws and a black crown are still present.
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Green SAXEM watch features a movement that provides an autonomy of two weeks. This is thanks to seven integrated barrels connected in series.
The power reserve indicator features in the southern hemisphere of the dial, leaving the main hour and minutes at the top. Of course, the new Big Bang Unico watch comes with a robust black rubber strap.
Hublot has released a limited run of just 20 pieces in this design. So, you’ll have to move quickly if you want to secure one for yourself.
The Spirit of Big Bang Jewellery Watches
A total of six new Spirit of Big Bang Jewellery watches were launched at LVMH this year. Meticulous gem-setters at Hublot have draped these timepieces in fine diamonds and gemstones, creating spectacular masterpieces.
The 32mm models come in King Gold or stainless steel options and channel strong avant-garde vibes.
Layers of light enrobe these glamorous new Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Jewellery watches for women. Artisans at Hublot hand-set each stone, whether a colored gem or diamond. The finished result is a timepiece that looks and feels incredibly unique.
If you’re familiar with Hublot watches, you’ll already be aware of the brand’s daring approach to watch design. These exquisite Spirit of Big Bang watches are elaborate, indulgent, and incredibly eye-catching.
Doubling up as sparkling pieces of jewelry, these sumptuous wristwatches are ideal for the glamour-loving type.
These new Spirit of Big Bang watches by Hublot continue the Big Bang design. They offer a tonneau-shaped case with 6 H-shaped titanium screws located on the bezel.
A sandwich case construction holds a proprietary self-winding movement inside each case for uncompromised accuracy. Lastly, these new Hublot watch releases come fitted on interchangeable straps that are secure with folding clasps for a comfortable fit.
Hublot Big Bang Integrated Tourbillon Full Purple Sapphire
It’s clear that Hublot is still experimenting with the possibilities of sapphire. Although a little more subdued than last year’s yellow neon SAXEM watch, this purple model is a delightful addition.
The new Hublot Big Bang Integrated Tourbillon Full Purple Sapphire watch is exactly what it says it is. A purple sapphire model that houses a tourbillon movement at its center captivates with its elegant design.
Hublot crafts the 43mm model from sapphire and boasts an anti-reflective coating. From any angle, you can stare into the deep complexity of the Calibre HUB6035, which beats on relentlessly.
The movement’s plate is coated in ruthenium and is micro-blasted and satin-finished for a detailed execution. The movement also provides a three-day power reserve and, thanks to its sapphire bridges, appears to float effortlessly.
Other Novelties
In addition to the new watches we’ve featured here, Hublot has unveiled a sky-blue ceramic Time Only model. The HUB1710 powers this limited edition of 200 pieces worldwide.
An updated version of the Square Bang Unico also sees a new blue model launched. It comes in King Gold, titanium, or blue ceramic.
Lastly, a new Rainbow Big Bang Unico watch in King Gold or titanium is also available.
The Takeaway
Hublot has released some remarkably energetic timepieces for 2024. They all celebrate the brand’s art of fusion with an abundance of revolutionary materials and complex horological architecture.
The new SAXEM watch in emerald green and the Full Sapphire in a deep, mesmerizing purple hue are my favorites. But with several new Hublot Square Bangs and Spirit of Big Bang jewelry watches available, it’s hard to pick.
Clearly, Hublot intends to continue experimenting with new and innovative colors, materials, and designs. The new 2024 Hublot watch releases give us lots of selection. Given Hublot’s invigorating use of color this year, who knows what the brand will come up with next?
