Literary Elegance: The Hemingway-Inspired Watches by Cuervo y Sobrinos-1

Cuervo y Sobrinos, the iconic watch manufacturer with roots in 19th century Havana, launches a special collection inspired by the literary giant Ernest Hemingway – a unique fusion of history, literature, and style. The Historiador Hemingway watches, which will be unveiled at the San Carlos Institute in Key West, are a tribute to Hemingway’s legacy and his longtime association with Cuervo y Sobrinos during his Cuban years.

Cuervo y Sobrinos: Where History and Literature Converge

Originally from Havana and now based in Switzerland, Cuervo y Sobrinos is known for producing luxury watches inspired by the vibrant spirit of Havana. Ernest Hemingway, a valued customer during his time in Cuba, has left an indelible mark on the brand. The upcoming launch at the Institut San Carlos, in collaboration with Emeralds International, promises an evening of history, adventure, and, of course, impeccable style.

A Literary Homage

The Historiador Hemingway collection, a collaboration with Hemingway Limited, comprises three models – the “Icónico” in two color variants and the GMT model called “The Fisherman”. These watches are a tribute to Hemingway’s love of Cuba and their vintage colors reflect the ambiance of his Cuban retreat. The launch is strategically timed to coincide with the Hemingway Days Festival in Key West.

Honoring a Legacy

Last year, Cuervo y Sobrinos honored Manuel Marcial de Gomar, the founder of Emeralds International, with the Latino Award. This prestigious award recognizes personalities of Latin American origin who have achieved international success. De Gomar, a gemstone expert and businessman, was celebrated with a watch in an unmistakable emerald green color. The collaboration between Cuervo y Sobrinos and Emeralds International continues with the Historiador Hemingway collection.

A Blend of Classic and Contemporary

The Historiador Hemingway watches have a vintage-style stainless steel case that reflects the timeless charm of the era. The Icònico models feature cream and tobacco-coloured dials, while the GMT version “The Fisherman” is a tribute to Hemingway’s literary masterpiece “The Old Man and the Sea” and comes in a rich blue.

Limited Edition Exclusivity

With only 882 examples of the Icònico models and 288 examples of “The Fisherman” GMT, the Historiador Hemingway collection is characterized by exclusivity. Each watch is not only a timepiece but also a testimony to individuality and rarity. The limited production makes them attractive to collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Swiss Precision Meets Cuban Soul

Cuervo y Sobrinos seamlessly combines Swiss precision with Cuban soul, capturing the essence of Havana in every timepiece. The Historiador Hemingway collection, officially licensed by Hemingway Limited, is a testament to this unique fusion of cultures and identities.

Conclusion

The Historiador Hemingway collection tells a story that stands the test of time – a story characterized by literary inspiration and precision craftsmanship. These limited edition watches are not only a tribute to Ernest Hemingway but also embody the legacy of history, literature, and watchmaking.
